Optimizes uploaded images for listings and can drastically reduce size. This can be a huge deal. If you reduce the size of an image that is viewed a 1000 times per day on your website by 200 Kiloybte, you save 200 MB per day in bandwidth. In addition, you improve page loading times for users visiting the site. There might be a small quality difference on some images but nothing crazy. But file sizes can be reduced by as much as 90+% at times.

Plugin support Windows and Linux, 32 and 64-bit and works by starting a background process using the dliCore Process component to optimize the images in the background when a new listing is added so there is no additional waiting for the user when creating the listing.

Make sure your php installation is not configured to block proc_open calls.

This plugin requires the free dliCore framework available here

The Image Optimizer plug-in does not work because the main plug-in dliCore required for operation can not be set because of an error
1171 - All parts of a PRIMARY KEY must be NOT NULL; If you need NULL in a key, use UNIQUE instead
In addition, the author of the plugins Daniel Liljeberg does not respond to messages.

I asked a question about this problem, my support was given there

Good afternoon, when installing, the SQL query is executed to create a table ad_t_dli_core_email_batch_keywords, in the parameters of which the primary keys fk_i_batch_id, s

Yes, the optimizations are done on the server so it does not matter if the client is using a computer, mobile or tablett.

    Hi

The latest version of Osclass is not an issue. Hostgator I don't know. They must not have disabled proc_open to allow PHP to run a process since this is used by the process component of dliCore to execute the optimization task in the background.

Can you upload images to show what the quality difference is after compression ?

Here you have a link to a zip containing two folders "With" and "Without" which is the same images uploaded to a listing with the optimizer and without it. The original file is never touched by the optimizer, only the thumbnail, preview and image used in listings.
I used a fairly small images so the difference in kb might not be so huge. But to show that it's not squashed by the optimizer it works. For larger images the gains in actual kb is more obvious.
Osclass used to have some strange quirk that made images uploaded to it balloon to huge sizes. This seems fixed now, but the optimister still makes the images smaller without any horrible quality difference.

i done a couple of test. i compress your images at tinypng.com and to be honest, their isn't a big lot of difference.

the biggest difference was 1.4KB on the larger image and only talking bytes for the other images preview and thumbnail.

i would be pleased with that :) and as you say, the larger the image the more compression difference
    will be seen.

thanks for your quick reply :)

Yes, they work fine together. The edited image is saved before the optimizer kicks in. Note that optimization is run as a background process so users don't have to wait for it to finish when they post an item. If you have configured your php installation to block functions for running processes this might be blocked.

Okay, let's say if I have a 4 MB image file.

Will it only compress few KBs or it'll compress few MB? Thanks again!

    Daniel Liljeberg AUTHOR2 years ago

It's hard to give a general answer since it depends on the image. But as said, it will depend on the image. I have had instances where, when compared to the original, the difference is 95%. But I have also have instances where it's only able to compress about 10%.
